-Dear Renaissance Butterflies,
Words cannot encompass the depth of my gratitude. Your generous donation has
allowed my students to experience a relevant, hands-on learning activity
that they would not have had the opportunity otherwise (due to financial
constraints). After a week long unit about butterflies, the students were
given a chance to connect what they had learned with a real life experience.
Thanks to your gift, providing each student with a butterfly for a release,
these children will have a positive learning experience to reflect upon,
which is extremely rare in this day of high stakes testing and
accountability. My students also benefited from by learning the value of a
good deed. The priceless expressions on their faces will be forever in my
memories, as it represented the joy and wonder of education. That single
moment encompasses all that I can hope to achieve as an educator; you have
blessed me with an incredible experience that I will never forget.
My students and I were extremely pleased that each beautiful butterfly
fluttered away to finish its life cycle; without knowing how much they had
touched our. The gift that you have given to my students and I was much more
than 25 butterflies- it was a gift of enlightenment. These children will
enter the 2nd grade next year with their curiosity and desire to learn still
intact, they have witnessed the power of a real life experience… and not
just another lesson from a book.

-My mother adored butterflies--they
were in and on everything in her home from refrigerator magnets, fan pulls,
jewelry, pillows--you name it. Last spring she was diagnosed with the worst
case scenario brain tumor. She died a few months later on August 5, 2004. As
an only child, I was devastated. Today when I woke up on the first
anniversary of her death my heart sat rock a rock in my chest. My cousins
daughter, who happens to be an Episcopal priest; Laurie Wurm had sent me a
box of your butterflies. I went outside in my garden and amid tears released
them. One landed on me, then another two. I can not full express to you the
emotional impact this had on me--I shall remember this event until the day I
die, and perhaps beyond that. This was the most thoughtful, heartfelt thing
anyone has ever done for me--nothing could have made me happier, or touched
me more. I live behind a wildlife refuge, so hopefully the butterflies found
their freedom enjoyable. Your packaging, poem and lovely box all added to
the experience. So I want to say Thank You--and Bless You-I am sending good
thoughts, prayers, wishes--blessings to everyone connected with Renaissance
Butterflies.

Dear Renaissance Butterflies,
It was a sad day!.... June 25th, 2005. Our Mother, Grandmother, Sister,
Aunt, Cousin, Friend was being laid to rest in her eternal home.
Because Madelyn loved butterflies, her family and friend’s sad faces and
eyes suddenly exclaimed smiles and excitement, when her four grandchildren
lifted the top from a white beautifully designed gift-wrapped box. Three
dozen colorful butterflies emerged fluttering from one funeral guest to the
other… to the other… when one special butterfly decided to rest on the book
“Order of Christian Funerals”, which was being held by our pastor. It
lingered with Father indefinitely!! It was as if that particular butterfly
was waiting for father to say … “Okay, you can lead Madelyn to her new
heavenly home.”
Needless to say, all eyes were on that butterfly who impressed (as did all
the butterflies) all our family and friends. This memory will be etched in
our minds for many years to come.
We, Madelyn’s family and friends want to say “THANKS” and also for your
